- A safety manual reveals that the Switch 2 has a protective film layer as part of the screen
- If you get a Switch 2, don’t try to peel it off … Although it is not a traditional screen protector
The Nintendo Switch 2 Is almost here, and we still learn more about the console in the short run -up to the launch of 5 June 2025. An example of this Nintendo of Europe shared the Nintendo Switch 2 Safety Manual as PDF online.
Although it contains standard operating instructions that we would expect for a portable game console, Nintendo Soup Planted that it tells us a little more about the display. In particular: “The screen is covered with a film layer that is designed to prevent fragments that spread in the case of damage. Do not peel it off.”
That brings back memories of the Original Milky Way Folding For some, including myself, but this is less a screen protector and more a layer of the display. Nevertheless, Nintendo makes it as clear as possible, as an important bullet, and reminds people that they do not run the risk of removing it. In the unfortunate event that you drop the switch 2 and the display is cracking, the film layer can prevent the crack from spreading.

Now this film layer is not exclusively for the Switch 2, because it is found in most glasses displays to prevent a cracked screen from further injury. You don’t want splints or pieces of glass to go everywhere. It is not a knock on the durability of the switch 2 and the Switch OLED Has a similar layer.
Furthermore, if you want to add a protective layer to the 7.9-inch display of Switch 2, you can still apply a screen protector. And keep in mind that this film layer is not a screen protector in a traditional sense.
The rest of the manual has a number of other useful operating tips that are all fairly standard for a portable game console. You can see it completely here.
If you are lucky to keep a successful pre -order for the Switch 2, you are only a few days away from receiving the game system.
