Awoniyi’s injury and the way it was handled led to a furious response from forest owner Evangelos Marinakis

Peak crashed into the post 87 minutes after he tried to convert a brilliant pass from Anthony Elanga on the right flank.

But A few minutes of treatment, Nigeria’s international returned to action.

Forest told Sunsport that led to the furious confrontation of owner Evangelos Marinakis with manager Nuno Espírito Santo full -time.

Nottingham issued a further update and claimed that Marinakis’ reaction came as a result of “deep care, responsibility and emotional investments”.

Forest shared the following explanation: “Nottingham Forest can confirm that Taiwo Awoniyi is recovering well so far after urgent operation on a serious belly injury that was sustained during Sunday’s game against Leicester City.

“The seriousness of his injury is a powerful memory of the physical risks in the game, and why the health and well -being of a player should always come first.

“In Nottingham Forest, this principle is not only policy for us; it is the deeply held faith and conviction of our owner. For Evangelos Marinakis this is not only a football club – it is family – and he gives that message in all of us.

“That is why he was so personally and emotionally invested in the situation that unfolded on the city ground on Sunday.

“His reaction was one of deep care, responsibility and emotional investments in one of our own. He not only saw it as an isolated incident, but as something that reflected the values and unity of the entire team.

“In such moments he demonstrates his leadership, not only through words, but by action and presence. In the last ten minutes of the game, when he clearly saw our player in discomfort, it was struggling by visible pain, it became increasingly difficult for him to stay on the sidelines.

“His deep frustration to see our player lying on the ground in severe pain – something that no one could ignore with genuine care – caused him to go up the field.

“It was instinctive, human and a reflection of how much this team and his people mean to him. He would do the same again if such an unfortunate event ever repeated.

“The truth is that there was no confrontation, with Nuno or with others, either on the field or in the stadium. Only shared frustration between all of us all that the medical team should never have let the player have nevertheless continued.

“In the light of this, we urge former coaches and players, and other public figures in the game, to resist the urge to hurry to judge and fake news online, especially if they do not have the full facts and context.

“Uneven and poorly informed indignation for the purposes of personal social media traction, no one of all injured players should not call on these influential voices to show the same respect for players’ well-being that they often demand from others. Let concern comes before comment.

“In Nottingham Forest we believe that the mental and physical well-being of our players and coaching staff must always take priority-over media stories, inflammatory judgments and certainly about self-promotion.

“In moments like this, the game must unite around those who put their bodies and spirits at stake every week. This is how real leadership looks out in our game.”
