Nutella fans are ecstatic after discovering a new variety of the spread called ‘Better than the original’, must roll out in supermarkets in the United Kingdom.
Dragged on toast, ice on cakes or made to milkshakes, there is no end to the ways in which the versatile hazelnut conflicts can be consumed.
Now Nutella has revealed that the British cabinets are in stock with a new iteration of the worldwide -praised sauce – A vegan variety.
Soon vegetable eaters will be treated to a vegan version that uses one unlikely ingredient to replicate his iconic creamy consistency.
On top of the usual ingredients of cocoa, hazelnuts and sugar, manufacturers have also added a number of improbable suspects, including chickpeas and rice syrup.
They claim that the new addition will have the same ‘taste and creaminess that fans know and love’, but are ‘specially made to offer a wonderful new choice, making Nutella’s characteristic of roasted hazelnuts and cocoa with vegetable ingredients such as chickpeas and rice syrup’.
It is already available on Amazon and will roll out in Sainsbury from 25 May, with other supermarkets not yet unveiling when they are planning to follow.
The vegan Nutella will be Sold in 350 g of pots, which is the same size as usually sold in the original variety.

“We have developed this innovation to offer a wonderful new choice that delivers the unmistakable Nutella experience in a vegetable version, to replace milk with vegetable ingredients without compromising on quality and taste.”
The decision to make a vegan version of the classic was inspired by a new wave of vegetable munchers, the brand said.
Ferrero recently mentioned research that shows that 4.7 percent of British adults – about 2.5 million people – follow a vegan diet.
