NYT Connections Today (Game #530) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Connections game, game #530, are…
- YELLOW: PUBLICITY ATTENTION, COVERAGE, EXPOSURE, PRESS
- GREEN: VIEWPOINT ANGLE, LENS, PERSPECTIVE, POSITION
- BLUE: WORK COMMUNICATION PLATFORMS MEET, SLACK, TEAMS, ZOOM
- PURPLE: “___ ISLAND” FANTASY, LOVE, SHUTTER, TREASURE
- My rating: Simple
- My score: Perfect
I was so close today to scoring a reverse rainbow, where you solve the puzzles from hard to easy, but unfortunately it turned blue before purple. However, the fact that I was so close reflects that even today’s supposedly tough groups were quite simple.
That said, blue may not be a cakewalk if you haven’t been an office worker in recent years. For those of us who have, MEET, SLACK, TEAMS and ZOOM are as familiar as our own names – which is why I solved it so quickly.
Purple was also a piece of cake. This was an ’empty’ type, as is so often the case, and the missing word on this occasion was ISLAND. With TREASURE, FANTASY, LOVE and SHUTTER as solutions, there was nothing particularly difficult about it, especially compared to yesterday’s attempt (which I failed). SHUTTER is probably the least obvious, but is my favorite of the quartet; it’s a Martin Scorsese movie from 2010.
Anyway, now that the two supposedly difficult tasks were done, it was even easier to complete green (POINT OF VIEW) and yellow (PUBLICITY) and get my streak going again.
How did you do today? Send me an email and let me know.

What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of the New York Times’ increasingly popular word games. It challenges you to find groups of four items that have something in common, and each group has a different level of difficulty: green is easy, yellow is slightly harder, blue is often quite hard, and purple is usually very hard.
On the plus side, you technically don’t have to solve the last question because you can answer it by a process of elimination. Plus, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you some breathing room.
It’s a bit more complicated than something like Wordle, though, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to trip you up with tricks. For example, beware of homophones and other word games that can obscure the answers.
It is playable for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
