NYT Strands Today (Contest #201) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands question, game #201, are…
- RHYME
- FRESH
- METER
- STANZA
- SYNTAX
- DICTION
- SCANSION
- SPANGRAM: POETRY
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: 2 tips
I’ve never been a fan of poetry, although I love words and language. Set it to music and it’s a different story – and I think the best lyricists are poets too. But ask me to talk about SCANSION and STANZA’s and I get a little lost. That’s all a way of justifying why I needed two clues to complete what some people will probably find a fairly simple Strands puzzle.
I figured out the theme early on, with the hint of ‘A way with words’ and the fact that I accidentally found RHYME, which set me on the right track. But while I saw a few more, I couldn’t get them all without needing a helping hand for METER and STANZA. Then I saw the spangram and the others were solved by a combination of guesswork and my little knowledge.
How was your day? Send me an email and let me know.
