NYT Strands Today (Contest #187) – The Answers

- PAP
- BEDS
- CHAIRS
- MOM
- BABY
- DADDY
- DIFFICULT
- SOFT
- SPANGRAM: THREE BEARS
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: Perfect
A good Strands puzzle can itself look a lot like the Goldilocks and the Three Bears story that sets the theme for today’s game: not too easy, not too hard, but just right.
And by that standard this is is a good Strands puzzle, as it is located in the middle area and is certainly challenging, but not insurmountable.
The theme clue – mentioned earlier just right – gave a relatively lame hint at the concept, but luckily I saw PORRIDGE very early on and knew what was needed here. Finding the words, however, was another story. It’s been a long time since I read the story, of course, and while I remembered some parts – BEDS and CHAIRS were easy – I got a bit stuck after that.
Luckily, the process became a lot easier when I posted the spangram THREEBEARS. After a bit of thinking and a lot of searching, I was able to fill in the remaining answers.
How was your day? Send me an email and let me know.
