NYT Strands Today (Contest #176) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands question, game #176, are…
- VOLLEY
- STICK
- RACKET
- CRUSHED
- LOVE
- FOREQUARTERS
- SERVE
- SPANGRAM: GREAT SLAMM
- My rating: Simple
- My score: Perfect
My only criticism of today’s Strands is that the spangram doesn’t really sum up the game as it should. GRANDSLAM is indeed a tennis-related term, but it’s not the general concept here. If it were, the answers would be specific to grand slam events like Wimbledon and the US Open, but they’re clearly not – they’re just “tennis-related words.” That’s a bit silly, isn’t it?
Anyway, that aside, this is a perfectly acceptable Strands puzzle. Even if you’re not a tennis fan (I like it, but I’m not one of them) you should find it pretty easy, because it’s all familiar terms and not terribly hard to find.
How was your day? Send me an email and let me know.
