NYT Strands Today (Game #225) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #225, are…
- DOLLY
- BUNGEE
- TRUCK
- BOXES
- FOAM
- CRATE
- BAND
- BELT
- SPANGRAM: MOVING DAY
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: 1 tip
It’s been a long time since I moved – fourteen years and counting, although before that I’d moved ten times in ten years. And honestly, none of my movements were anywhere near as organized as the fictional example of the NYT that gives answers like FOAM, BUNGEE and DOLLY; mine was strictly cardboard-boxes-tape-and-a-few-friends-in-a-rented-van.
My relative unfamiliarity with the subject aside, this is a pretty tricky Strands puzzle anyway, with lots of short words to find. Sure, short words are theoretically easier to spot than long ones because there are fewer possibilities for where the letters can go, but they can be harder to solve simply because there are a lot of four-letter words on the board, and if you don’t does, If you don’t know what the concept is, you don’t know where to start.
Coincidentally, I started working without help, but first discovered DOLLY and couldn’t imagine how that could relate to “Go Away!” Adding BUNGEE didn’t really help, and it wasn’t until I found TRUCK and BOXES that it all came together. However, I still needed one hint to get started in the bottom right corner of the board; this was a harder game than most we’ve played lately.
