You may have to be a bit of a science nerd to solve today’s Strands, as there are a few words in them that not everyone will be familiar with. Or at least that many people won’t have heard it since biology lessons at school.
TAXONOMY, as the spangram puts it, is the subject of the game – and that word itself is difficult to find. But even more difficult are certainly PHYLUM and GENUS, the former in particular being a word that does not occur in any other context.
My own play went really well, because I’m a bit of a science nerd, and I got lucky with my first guesses. I found CLASS while looking for clue words to use in this column, and merged that with the theme clue “In My Kingdom” to determine what the central concept was. I then found FAMILY, SPECIES, and – yes – PHYLUM, and was able to complete the set without any major problems.
How did you do today? Send me an email and let me know.
