If I didn’t write this column every day, I wouldn’t always have to search for clue words in Strands. And today was one of those days. While scanning the board for words to include in my clues, I accidentally discovered COMIC, FOOL, and CLOWN, meaning I was halfway through the game before I should have even started. It was that simple!
The spangram was actually the hardest part; I was convinced it would somehow contain JOKE or JOKER, but the J went to JESTER instead and the spangram was the less obvious YOUREKIDDING. But I doubt people would find it hard today, even with that in mind – the words are all just too obvious.

What is NYT Strands?
Strands is the new word game from the NYT, after Wordle and Connections. It is now out of beta and is therefore a full member of the NYT stable of games and can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
