I prefer spending time at the beach/ocean over a pool, which is probably why I’ve never been to a POOL PARTY. Or it could be because I don’t live in a nice sunny place like California or Florida. Either way, I was completely confused by this Strands puzzle for about two minutes at first, after I first found MUSIC. ‘Splashy event’ and MUSIC? What could be the connection? But then I also found FLOATS and had that eureka moment where it was clear what the theme was. The spangram followed, then the remaining answers in a fairly short time for another easy game.

What is NYT Strands?
Strands is the new word game from the NYT, after Wordle and Connections. It is now out of beta and is therefore a full member of the NYT stable of games and can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
