Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the US! Today’s Strands is a nice contrast to Connections, another daily NYT puzzle game; Where Thanksgiving is used as a diabolical way to fool solvers, Strands plays it straight by just asking people to find words related to the holiday.
There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, but it’s unlikely it will ever pose a real challenge, and I wonder if Strands has a long-term future. Anyway, even a Brit like me could solve this problem, although I have to admit I had no idea ROLLS or YAMS were part of the Thanksgiving celebration. But I knew enough to get started and was able to find the others through trial and error without mishap.

Strands is the NYT’s new word game, after Wordle and Connections. It is now out of beta so is a full member of the NYT’s stable of games and can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
