I can’t decide if today’s Strands are hard or not. I found them hard – but that might just be me. After all, the concept – names for THOROUGHFAREs, as the spangram would call it – is simple, but then again, the spangram itself is really hard. I mean, when was the last time you used that word to refer to a STREET or ROAD or LANE?
Furthermore, I simply couldn’t think of any roads beyond the three obvious ones above. BOULEVARD isn’t a common term in the UK where I live, and HIGHWAY is rarely used here – so that didn’t help. But I should have found AVENUE, and ultimately I think that was more about my shortcomings than the outright difficulty of the puzzle.

Strands is the new word game from the NYT, after Wordle and Connections. It is now out of beta and is therefore a full member of the NYT stable of games and can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
