NYT Strands Today (Contest #163) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands question, game #163, are…
- DICTIONARY
- THESAURUS
- HANDBOOK
- ATLAS
- ALMANAC
- SPANGRAM: REFERENCE
- My rating: Simple
- My score: Perfect
One for the kids here, with five answers that few people under 25 will likely have ever used. Okay, that’s a bit OTT; online dictionaries do exist, of course. But ALMANAC? HANDBOOK? ATLAS? I asked my own teenagers (both 14) and they had no idea what an ALMANAC was, at least. They had heard of the other two, but whether they would have thought to guess is another matter.
I had no problems, as a being of advanced age, and solved this fairly quickly. Although I’m not sure I would have gotten ALMANAC if it wasn’t the only word left when I got around to it…
How was your day? Send me an email and let me know.
