NYT Strands Today (Contest #156) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands question, game #156, are…
- BED SHEET
- BLANKET
- TOWEL
- PILLOWCASE
- TABLECLOTH
- STRANGRAM: LINEN COLOUR SET
- My score: Moderate
- My score: 1 tip
I was a little thrown off today by the theme clue ‘Bed, Bath & Beyond’, and I went a little bit the wrong way because of the ‘bath and beyond’ aspect. I didn’t realise it when I played, but Bed, Bath & Beyond was an American retailer specialising in homewares, a fact that I’m sure anyone reading this in North America is aware of. However, I’m writing this in the UK and I wasn’t aware of it – which meant I didn’t realise that the ‘bath’ aspect in particular was a red herring for the game – and indeed, that things like TABLECLOTHS and TOWELS (two things that don’t go on a bed) could also be included.
Coincidentally I found SHEET and BLANKET myself, and through a hint I got TOWEL. That gave me enough information to find the rest, including the spangram LINEN CORD.
How was your day? Send me an email and let me know.
