NYT Strands Today (Contest #191) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands question, game #191, are…
- WALTZ
- QUICKSTEP
- FOXTROT
- SALSA
- JIVE
- RUMBA
- SPANGRAM: BALLROOM DANCE
- My rating: Simple
- My score: Perfect
I’ve never tried ballroom dancing before and probably never will, but that didn’t stop me from quickly finishing this Strands puzzle. It’s a very simple one, helped enormously by the fact that the spangram, BALLROOMDANCE, is very long and winds across the middle of the board. This limits the possibilities for letters around it, making QUICKSTEP and SALSA easy to spot. Unusual letters also helped: there’s an X, a Z and a Q in there, and they’re all easier to work with than more common characters.
