NYT Strands Today (Contest #198) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands question, game #198, are…
- SPRING
- TRAPOLINEN
- ECHO
- BASKETBALL
- KANGAROO
- SPANGRAM: LET’S BUNDLE
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: 1 tip
I have only one problem with today’s Strands – and that’s the spangram. Unless LETSBOUNCE is an Americanism I’m unfamiliar with, I don’t see why that’s the answer, rather than BOUNCE itself.
This really confused me today; the combination of the theme clue and accidentally discovering SPRING led me to the general concept, and I was able to find TRAMPOLINE, ECHO, and BASKETBALL without too much trouble. However, I couldn’t make two words from the remaining letters. I saw that BOUNCE was there, but it didn’t turn blue (or yellow), and I couldn’t figure out what word would go before (or after) it. Finally I used a clue, which gave me KANGAROO, at which point the spangram revealed itself.
How was your day? Send me an email and let me know.
