NYT Strands Today (Contest #185) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands question, game #185, are…
- BOWS
- GLACIER
- SERIOUS WOOD
- SAGUARO
- UNCLEAN
- SPANGRAM: NATIONAL PARKS
- My rating: Difficult
- My score: 4 tips
This is one of those Strands games that will prove much, much harder if you don’t live in (or know much about) the United States. I won’t complain about that at length – the New York Times is an American publication, so I understand why it’s focused there – but it makes for a deeply unsatisfying game from my perspective, as I had very little chance of solving it without a lot of hints. And why would I? I doubt the average American can name many British national parks…
So here my game was simply ask for a hint, find the word, find more hint words, ask for another hint, and repeat, repeat, repeat. I did get the spangram, plus BADLANDS, but I have to say I had never heard of SAGUARO, ARCHES, or GLACIER, so I really had very little chance of getting a perfect score here.
How was your day? Send me an email and let me know.
