JAJPUR: The Block Education Officer (BEO) of Dharmasala at Odisha Jajpur district has a Thursday show cause message to a director of A government primary school for attending it in a drunken state. The teacher works at a primary school in Anjira panchayat under Dharmasala block in Jajpur district, an official said.
The action was taken after the primary school management and some guardians of students brought the incident to the attention of the Dharmasala BEO and demanded strictest action against the principal.
They demanded that the teacher be immediately transferred to another school because he often comes to school drunk.
They also showed a video of the drunk director to the committee, which went viral on social media. In the alleged video, the principal was seen lying drunk on the road, a few meters away from the school.
Dharmasala BEO Abhijit Barik has issued a notice against the accused teacher and is waiting for the response.
“We have issued an alert to the director and asked him to respond within three days. After receiving a response, we will take appropriate action accordingly,” he said.
This is not the first case of a teacher going to school drunk. Last year, three such cases were reported in Jajpur district.
