Aussie Olympic cyclist Rohan Dennis was released from the court after a conditional prison sentence after the ‘inherently risky and dangerous act’ that resulted in the death of his wife when she was hit by the car he was driving.
Dennis, 34, had found guilty of accusing a serious act that would probably cause damage and was sentenced to a year, four months and 28 days in prison, completely suspended, allowing him to take care of the two children of the couple.
He also received a two -year good behavioral bond and did not drive during the tragedy for five years, which was recorded on CCTV.
The parents of Hoskins, Peter and Amanda, went outside the court because they said they would try to have a ‘well -manned relationship’ with Dennis because of their grandchildren who ‘have done nothing wrong’.
“To describe the consequences of the events on December 30, 2023, because tragically does not really do justice to the grief, the fear and the unrest that those events brought into life of those who knew your wife and loved your wife,” Judge Ian Press told the court on Wednesday.
Press also said that Dennis had worked with the police, but “it was your obligation to stop the vehicle while driving that became dangerous for her physical well -being.”

A stony Dennis refused to respond after conviction because he was asked if he wanted to apologize.
Hoskins’ father Peter and mother Amanda made an emotional statement outside the field after the punishment was accepted.
“We are happy that the process is over and considerably shortened by Rohan’s guilty plea,” said Peter Hoskins by tears.
‘It is now time for us to continue, which would be Melissa’s expectations.
‘We clearly want an integral part of their children’s lives and their future.
‘How we do this in a meaningful way, and a relevant way, will take time while we concentrate again on our lives in the future without Melissa.
‘With regard to Rohan, as difficult as it will be, it is important that we also have a well -manned relationship with him.
‘Oliver and Madeleine [the couple’s children] Earn this. They have done nothing wrong … We miss Melissa terribly. She was someone very special. ‘

Dennis was arrested after his wife Melissa Hoskins was hit by his Volkswagen Ute near their house in Medindie, in Adelaide’s Inner North, on December 30, 2023.
Mrs. Hoskins became serious injury and died in the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
The court was told that the couple had a fight about kitchen renovations before Dennis left their house and drove away. Mrs. Hoskins had jumped on the car of the car shortly before she died.
Judge Press noted that Dennis is not held criminally responsible for the death of his wife.
The violation bore a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and a loss of a five -year driver’s license, but in April, lawyer Jane Abbey KC asked her client to receive a suspended sentence, which was not opposed by the prosecution.
Dennis revealed details about the tragedy in an interview with the police the day after the death of his wife.
He explained that the couple had been involved in an argument with regard to home renovations and ‘tensions were cooked about it’.
During the interview with the police, the Olympian, who had participated in the Olympic Games in London 2012, Rio in 2016 and Tokyo in 2021, told the officer that he was not going to harm his wife and to add that it was ‘the last one I would ever do B **** y’.
“We screamed against each other and I was just like” I’m gone, “as I just leave the house,” Dennis told officers.

Hoskins ‘Mother Amanda revealed that Dennis had not apologized to the family and a court told’ there was no regret ‘shown’

Dennis (depicted with Hoskins) revealed graphic details of the tragedy in a police interview
‘While I got into my car, my wife ran Mel and while I moved, she jumped in the front and on the hood.
“So I slowly kept driving through the track and was as if I just looked at her and said,” What are you doing? “
“Then we arrived at the end of Medindie Lane and I stopped and noticed that Mel wanted to jump in principle … and she jumped away.”
Dennis told the moment Hoskins fell to the ground and had told police officers: ‘She tried to catch the door handle, which I believe she has now received a grip and has to run next to the car to step aside.
‘At this stage I realized that she will probably try to continue and get a bit out of hand.
‘From the memory I let go of the accelerator pedal, but I heard a thump and I saw in my mirror that she was on the floor.
“So I stopped as fast as I could and ran back to her.”
He explained that his wife seemed to be struggling to breathe.
“I was just talking to her all the time to keep her awake,” said Dennis.
“She just moaned, like growling of pain and I said,” You can feel your legs, you’re doing well “. And she nodded like “yes”.
‘Like, I knew she had hit her head, but … When I pulled her, it felt like she might have broke some ribs or something and that this was bloody in the hope that the worst was the worst.
“And that’s why blood came.
“That’s why I thought she might be struggling to talk. She couldn’t breathe well. ‘
While condemning entries in the SA District Court in April, Amanda Hoskins said that her daughter had held Dennis and I know you would never intentionally hurt her. “
“I believe this is a tragic accident. Your mood is your downfall and must be tackled, “she said.
Mrs. Hoskins ‘sister Jessica Locke told the court that Dennis – who won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games – had not apologized for his actions to the family and she had’ trouble processing his lack of empathy.
“No regret has been shown,” she said.

Dennis (depicted on the left outside the court in Adelaide on Wednesday) was confronted with a maximum fine of seven years in prison and refused to comment or apologize after conviction
Peter Hoskins said that the ‘greatest fear’ of the family lost access to their grandchildren, now six and four years old.
They were ‘Silent Grievers’ who were too young to realize the current and future impact of their mother’s loss on their lives, he said.
During that hearing, Mrs. Abbey said that her client presented as a ‘very stoic man’.
“If the audience doesn’t look … he’s not at all stoically. He experiences deep, deep sorrow. ‘
Mrs. Hoskins participated in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games at the Circuit in the team chase and was in the team that won the world title 2015.
Dennis won two world titles in the Road Time Trial, as well as silver in the team haunting the 2012 Olympic Games and Bronze in the road time trial at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Mrs. Hoskins was laid to rest in her home town of Perth and a public memorial service was held in Adelaide last year.
Dennis attended the service with their two children.
