IAS, IPS Officer Thrash Restaurant Staff on Rajasthan Highway Brawl | Watch video

IPS officer Bishnoi allegedly punched a restaurant worker for wearing a vest, which allegedly triggered the scuffle, according to reports.

Rajasthan DGP Umesh Mishra said that a case had been registered against the accused police officers, including the IPS officer, based on the complaint.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, an officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) and an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) were involved in a brawl on a highway in Rajasthan, after which the two top officials and three other people were suspended after a video of the incident went viral on social media platforms.

According to a report by NDTV, Ajmer Development Authority Commissioner Giridhar (IAS) and IPS officer Sushil Kumar Bishnoi, posted as Officer on Special Duty (Gangapur City Police), clashed with the staff of a restaurant on Jaipur-Ajmer highway on Sunday night leave.

The incident, which was captured by the security cameras at the restaurant, showed people fighting and throwing rocks.

NDTV cited reports from local media sources and stated that the incident occurred as the top officials returned from the farewell party organized to celebrate Bishnoi’s new post.

According to the report, an altercation broke out after officials stopped their vehicles outside the restaurant to use the washroom and asked staff to open the doors. IPS officer Bishnoi allegedly punched a restaurant worker for wearing a vest, allegedly sparking the scuffle, the report said, citing local media sources.

They said that when they witnessed the attack, other staff members arrived on the scene and a fight broke out. However, Bishnoi left the scene and later returned with some police officers and beat up the staff, the restaurant owner claimed in a complaint filed against the IPS officer.

Bishnoi has refuted the allegations against him.

In a statement, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Rajasthan Umesh Mishra said that on the basis of the restaurant owner’s complaint, a case had been registered against five unidentified people and during the initial investigation, the perpetrators were identified as IPS Officer Sushil Kumar Bishnoi, IAS Officer Giridhar, an officer of the Rajasthan Police, and two other government employees.

All the defendants, including the IPS officer and the IAS officer, have been suspended, DGP Mishra said, adding that the police officers allegedly involved in the incident have been assigned to the district police lines.

The top agent said the case is being investigated by the Vigilance Department and appropriate action will be taken against those guilty.

Another alleged CCTV video of the incident, shared by Mahendra Singh, owner of Hotel Makrana Raj, where the brawl took place, shows some police officers, including the IPS officer and his accomplices, attacking the hotel staff with stones.

Singh has claimed that both officers were drunk when they attacked his staffers.
