On the fence between an RX 9070 XT or RTX 5070 TI? AMD’s GPU becomes faster and faster with the improvements of the driver, making it even better value.

AMD’s RX 9070 XT -Grafic map is considerably faster than when the GPU was first launched thanks to improvements in the directors of Team Red, with a new test.
This comes from hardware that is disabled YouTube (If Marked by Video -Cardz), who had seen reports of performance boosters and wanted to verify those claims.
And they turned out to be correct, because based on benchmarks carried out on a series of 16 games (at 1440p resolution) by Hardware Unboxed, the RX 9070 XT was 9% faster than with the launch -dependent drivers (from back in March 2025).
This game benchmarking used the newest AMD Adrenalin Graphics Driver (version 25.6.3), but also recorded Nvidia‘s RTX 5070 Ti not only for perspective, but also to ensure that this profit was achieved because of the drivers.
This was to eliminate the possibility that the boost of almost 10% that the RX 9070 XT was observed was possibly the result of patches applied to the games. So if the RTX 5070 Ti had shown similar profits, the conclusion would be that this was due to the game, not to the driver, optimisations – but that is not the case.
Admitted, with some games, the RTX 5070 TI witnessed similar frame-rate profits such as AMD’s graphics cardWhat could indicate that those improvements were indeed an update for the game (or more updates over time). Or indeed that the drivers of Nvidia have also improved with a similar amount, which is of course perfectly possible. There were also a few victories for the RTX 5070 Ti, although it was more out of bijters, such as a profit of 36% in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 (which was due to a bugfix).
The broad thrust of the findings of hardware unboxed, however, is that the RX 9070 XT is doing considerably better, with the aforementioned 9% boost (on average 116 frames per second to 126) compared to a profit of 2.5% (119 frames per second to 122) for Nvidia’s upper-MID range range. This includes a speed increase of 27% for the AMD-graphic map in Spider-Man Remastered.

Analysis: AMDs more and more tempting value proposition
Of course there are many moving parts here in terms of the chosen games that are chosen to be tested and graphic settings used (and the test -PC configuration). There was not much difference 4k Resolution, it is worth mentioning, with a profit of 4% for the 9070 XT versus 3% for the 5070 TI.
So this is hardly a definitive result and we have to exercise some caution around it. Yet the difference at 1440p seems to be large enough to justify some raised eyebrows, and these types of profits have also been observed elsewhere, as noted.
It seems that AMD has made considerable progress in improving its adrenaline graphic drivers – much more than Nvidia – because the RDNA 4 series has been launched graphic cards. Or, to a certain extent, this can reflect the team red that the wonkiness drains with performance at lower resolutions (since the boost at 4K is much less, and hardly different from what Nvidia has managed with the RTX 5070 TI).
This is great news for those who have already bought an RX 9070 XT, of course, and effectively a substantial free speed boost as it were. It is also proof of the ‘good wine’ effect that is often associated with AMD drivers, which means that they are outdated if time progresses.

At 1440p – de resolution These graphics cards are usually used for – AMD has noticed its socks a lot as noted, and the 9070 XT is now the faster board, but only with 3%. There are also other arguments in favor of Nvidia around the benefits of DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation, so it is a very narrow battle here.
That means that prices are definitely the key – and of course also regional price tags – and this is where AMD scores the victory, especially in the US, the UK and Australia. At Newegg US currently the Nvidia GPU is 20% more expensive (it is normally more), and in Australia the Golf is more than 30%. Wherever you live, the story is probably very similar, unless you can find a really good out of a deal on the RTX 5070 Ti (Like this in the UK Currently).
And given that, unless you are really hungry for DLSS 4, the RX 9070 XT now looks great in the stronger of these GPUs in terms of that most important total price/performance ratio.
