‘Once again urge PM Modi to visit Manipur’: Rahul Gandhi amid new wave of violence | India News – Times of India
The opposition has questioned Prime Minister Modi’s decision to go on foreign trips as well as his continued refusal to visit the conflict-torn state since the clashes began.
The prime minister’s first response to the northeastern state came earlier this year in July, a year and a half after the Kuki-Meitei violence began.

‘The recent series of violent clashes and their continuation bloodshed in Manipur is deeply disturbing. After more than a year of division and suffering, every Indian hoped that the central and state governments would have made every effort to reconcile and find a solution. I once again urge the Prime Minister to visit Manipur and work towards restoring peace and healing in the region,” Rahul said.
“Today, schools, colleges, offices and other institutions are open in the state. The Central government and the state government are talking to all stakeholders to restore peace,” he had said, while further asking the Opposition to stop “politicising” the issue.
Meanwhile, the Biren government has imposed an indefinite curfew in Imphal East, Imphal West and Bishnupur districts, while internet and mobile data services have been suspended in several areas including Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur. .
