OnePlus Nord 4 gets the same number of Android OS updates as the OnePlus 12
OnePlus Nord 4 will be launched by the company during its Summer Launch event scheduled to take place next week, and details about the phone are now being revealed ahead of its debut. The mid-range smartphone is on track to become the handset with the longest overall software support window that OnePlus has offered to date, even beating out higher-end models such as the flagship OnePlus 12 and the OnePlus Open. Meanwhile, the company has also revealed that the OnePlus Nord 4 comes with a battery that offers a longer lifespan than its predecessor.
OnePlus Nord 4 Software Support Period Announced
In preparation for the upcoming OnePlus Summer Launch event that will take place on July 16 at 6:30 PM IST, the company has announced a microsite on its website teasing various details of the upcoming devices. The OnePlus Nord 4 is expected to receive four Android OS updates, which means it will get the same number of OS updates as the OnePlus 12, the company’s current-generation flagship smartphone.
The four-year update window aligns with that of the OnePlus 12 and Samsung’s mid-range rivals like the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35. Unlike those devices, which are promised five years of security updates, OnePlus says the Nord 4 will get six years of security patches. However, the company didn’t reveal whether those would be rolled out monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly.
OnePlus Nord battery life features revealed
OnePlus has also confirmed that the Nord 4 will come with a battery with improved lifespan compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus Nord 3. It is certified to retain more than 80 percent of its capacity over a period of four years, after 1,600 charge cycles, the company said.
While the company is yet to reveal all the specifications of the smartphone, including its actual battery capacity, recent reports have given us a fair idea of what we can expect from the OnePlus Nord 4. It is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, pack a 5,500mAh battery, and feature a 1.5K resolution AMOLED display. Pricing and availability details will be announced during the upcoming OnePlus Summer Launch event on July 16.
