You often hear in the large iOS vs Android debate Apple Fans who bring airdrop forward as one of the most important benefits of the iPhone. However, it seems that OnePlus hopes to share the sharing of Airdrop style and bring file transfers to its Android phones.
O+ Connect, which includes a function that is built into OnePlus’ Oxygenos Android wrapper and an app for compatible devices from third parties, brings these functions to OnePlus devices, starting with the OnePlus 13R.
As for the flagship OnePlus 13The company has confirmed that O+ Connect support is on the road, but we do not yet know exactly when. Moreover, the function is currently only available for UK and EU users.
This allows users to view and transfer files between their OnePlus telephone and iPhone, iPad or Mac wireless, which is usually impossible without using an intermediary such as Google Drive or WeTransfer.
The corresponding O+ Connect app can be found on an official OnePlus website or on the iOS App Store.
Strangely enough, the O+ Connect app macOS supports all the way back to version 10.4, released in 2005 as a macOS X Tiger – this means that every Mac released in the last 20 years must be supported; Talk about backward compatibility.
It is worth noting that the O+ Connect app was originally released under the same name for Oppo phones. Oppo and OnePlus are both owned by parent company BBK Electronics, and although the two companies often share designs and functions, they are different. It is something to keep in mind if you use both OnePlus and Oppo devices.
Build bridges
According to OnePlus, the integration of the O+ Connect -app marks the start of an ecosystem aimed at connecting OnePlus users with devices from several other brands -not only Apple.
I personally experienced the pure horror to move a large video from an Android telephone to my MacBook, or from an iPhone to an Android device, a too often.
Although solutions from third parties such as local it are very effective, I welcome the addition of OnePlus of O+ Connect-it is great to see that telephone makers tackle this problem with first-party solutions.
I think telephone makers have the right to protect and circling their own ecosystems, but making sharing files easier, really has no disadvantage from a consumer perspective. I am happy to see that OnePlus leads the way to this.
O+ Connect is on the way to the OnePlus 13, but I hope it is more of the Best OnePlus -Phones soon. Let us know if you use this new function in the comments below.
