OnePlus to announce new Glacier battery technology on June 20

OnePlus is bringing a new smartphone battery technology dubbed “Glacier Battery” to improve the battery life and performance of smartphones. The new technology, developed in collaboration with Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL), will be unveiled on June 20. The technology is said to eliminate the need for power banks. The Chinese tech brand is expected to soon launch the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro as the first smartphone to feature the new Glacier Battery. The upcoming handset could feature a 6,100mAh battery.

Via a series by to inform OnePlus confirmed on Weibo that the “Glacier Battery” technology will be announced on June 20 at 2:00 PM (11:30 AM IST). This next-generation battery technology, designed for Ace smartphones, has been built in collaboration with CATL. The brand claims that the Glacier Battery technology would eliminate the common problem of frequent charging, the fear of running out of power and the need for power banks. It is said to offer a “breakthrough” in battery life.

In addition, Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station suggested that the first device to feature OnePlus’ Glacier Battery technology will be the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro. The handset doesn’t have a release date yet, but is expected to come with a massive 6,100mAh battery with 100W charging support. This fast charging technology should fill the battery from zero to 100 percent in less than 30 minutes.

Despite the larger battery size, the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro could retain a slim profile with a thickness of “8mm”. The tipster suggests that future OnePlus smartphones will use the new battery technology.

Based on previous leaks, the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro will go official in Q3 this year. It is said to feature a curved edge display with a center-placed hole punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter. It is said to feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K resolution 8T LTPO display and may feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC under the hood. It could feature a metal midframe and a glass body.

The OnePlus Ace 3 Pro is said to feature a triple camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel unit and a 2-megapixel sensor. There should be a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
