‘Operation Sadbhav’: India sends aid to 3 typhoon-hit Southeast Asian countries | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: India on Sunday launched ‘Operation Sadbhav‘to provide humanitarian aid to countries affected by Typhoon Yagia powerful storm that has killed hundreds of people in Southeast AsiaAs part of the operation, India has provided assistance worth $100,000 per person to Vietnam And Laos.
A shipment of 35 tons of humanitarian aid, including water purification products, water containers, blankets, kitchen utensils and solar lanterns, was flown to Vietnam on a special plane, the government said in a statement.
The floods and landslides caused widespread damage to property and agricultural land, affecting about 40,000 people in Laos. Aid was also sent to Burma where more than 100 people have died. “To show our solidarity with the people affected by Typhoon Yagi, India is sending aid to Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos,” External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said.
“The humanitarian support to Vietnam is a testament to the enduring close ties between the two countries, characterised by our comprehensive strategic partnership,” the government said.
