‘Operation Sadbhav’: India sends humanitarian aid to Typhoon Yagi-hit Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: India on Sunday extended humanitarian aid Unpleasant BurmaVietnam and Laos through the launch of ‘Operation Sadbhav‘ in the aftermath of the major typhoon that hit the region.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday announced that 10 tonnes of relief material, consisting of dry rations, clothes and medicines, have been sent to Myanmar on board the Indian Navy ship INS Satpura.
In addition, an Indian Air Force C-130J military transport aircraft delivered 35 tons of relief supplies to Vietnam and 10 tons of relief supplies to Laos.
“India launches #OperationSadbhav. To show our solidarity with the people affected by Typhoon Yagi, India is sending aid to Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos,” EAM Jaishankar said on ‘X’.
“Today, as many as 10 tonnes of relief supplies, including dry rations, clothing and medicines, left for Myanmar on board INS Satpura,” he said.
EAM Jaishankar added: “The Indian Air Force is transporting 35 tonnes of relief materials including water purification products, water containers, blankets, kitchen utensils and solar lanterns for Vietnam.”
“About 10 tons of relief supplies, including a generator, water purification equipment, hygiene products, mosquito nets, blankets and sleeping bags for Laos,” he said.
The Indian Navy has made rapid preparations to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in response to severe flooding in Myanmar.
The Eastern Naval Command, in coordination with the Eastern Fleet and other supporting units, completed the rapid loading of relief supplies – including drinking water, rations and medicines – onto an Indian warship sailing from Visakhapatnam to Yangon.
According to Navy spokesman Vivek Madhwal, this rapid mobilization demonstrates the Navy’s capability to effectively address humanitarian emergencies in the region.
Recent flooding caused by Typhoon Yagi has hit Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam. The typhoon, the most powerful storm to hit Asia this year, struck more than a week ago, killing more than 170 people in Vietnam and about 40 in Myanmar.
