Our favorite simple ways to save on energy costs throughout your home
If you find that your gas or electricity bills are particularly high in the winter, it may be worth investing in a space heater, especially if you live in a small space. As the name implies, a space heater heats a small part of your home instead of your entire home. Placing a space heater in an area of your home that you visit most often can save you more money than continuously heating areas of your home that you don’t even use. And they don’t have to be big and bulky.
There are also plenty of small tabletop space heaters that you can buy for as little as $20 that use much less energy than some of the larger options. Just don’t go too wild with the placement of your space heater. If you’re going to install a space heater in multiple rooms, you might as well turn on your central heating to heat your entire home.
“We have calculated how much you can save on your annual energy bill if you use a space heater 8 hours a day.” If you use it 8 hours a day, you can expect to pay an average of about $1.60 per day or $48 per month.
