Oura Ring gets an AI-powered wellness advisor to help you understand your health data
Oura is once again expanding the capabilities of its wellness smart ring, this time around, like many other devices, leveraging the power of AI. The announcement also comes a day ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event, which is expected to reveal the Samsung Galaxy Ring and a new set of features under the Galaxy AI umbrella.
The new AI assistant, called Oura Advisor, will offer wellness tips, answer questions, or analyze data, and is designed to complement the current Oura Ring experience. This isn’t a full rollout, but rather a new experimental feature that users can opt into within Oura Labs.
Oura’s app already does a great job of providing context around your data. For example, when you wake up in the morning, you’ll get a readiness score with some recommendations, like that you should take it easy, or that you’re ready for a busy day. However, the brand describes Oura Advisor as a “personal wellness coach” that can provide more context and better recommend or unpack specific details.
Like ChatGPT, Oura Advisor is a chatbot that you can have a conversation with once you sign up and are currently subscribed to an Oura membership. During the setup process, you choose from three styles: supportive, mentoring, or goal-oriented, and choose how often you want to receive notifications.
Since Oura Advisor is completely opt-in and technically in beta, be aware that Oura will analyze your data to make personalized recommendations if you opt in. You can also take it a step further with a feature Oura calls Memory. Essentially, you can share more information, like if you’re recovering from surgery or being treated for a pulled muscle, and Advisor will take that into account. You can also remove items from Memory and opt out of Advisor at any time.
We’re excited to get hands-on with Oura Advisor, and if you’re interested, you’ll be able to set it up once the beta rolls out within Oura Labs. Oura will also deliver the quarterly Made for Members feature set enhancements.
Discoveries for iPhone users will provide more context around specific patterns that impact your health and well-being. Cardiovascular age and cardio capacity, a feature already found on other smartwatches, is rolling out to both Android and iOS apps for members.
Of all this news, Oura Advisor seems the most interesting and potentially impactful. We’re eager to test it out and see what types of recommendations it will offer and what tone it will take.
Oura is likely trying to get ahead of the rumors surrounding the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy Ring, which is set to take place during the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10. In the meantime, if you already have an Oura Ring and are a member, keep an eye on Advisor in the Oura Labs section of the app.
