OzLotto winner steps forward to claim $15 million prize and reveals what he’ll do with the money

A Bathurst man has revealed his big plans after winning $15 million in last week’s Oz Lotto draw.

The New South Wales man had the only division one winning entry in the Oz Lotto draw 1597 on Tuesday and takes home the entire $15 million jackpot.

The winning entry was not registered, meaning The Lott officials had to wait for the mysterious ticket holder to come forward to claim his prize.

“When I checked my ticket I thought I was going to have a heart attack,” the man said.

‘I seriously didn’t know what to do at that moment. All I remember is my spine tingling.

‘I’m still in shock. $15 million is a lot to wrap my head around. It’s not the kind of money I’ve ever seen in my life.’

The newly minted multimillionaire revealed he would use the money to help others.

“It feels great to know I can help my family,” he said. “All I want to do is take care of my family and make sure they are happy and healthy.

His winning ticket was purchased from Wilberforce Newsagency, in the Wilberforce Shopping Center on the corner of King Road and William Street.

Wilberforce Newsagency owner Allison Griffith said the shop was buzzing with excitement after hearing it had sold the Division One winning ticket.

“We’ve had the wire service for 17 years now and this is our first big win,” Ms Griffith said.

‘It feels very special to know that we have sold someone a life-changing ticket.

‘Our customers and local community are over the moon to hear that someone from the region has won such a major prize.’

The winning numbers in the Oz Lotto draw 1597 on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 were 33, 35, 15, 13, 30, 4 and 32, while the additional numbers were 20, 27 and 45.

Across Australia, there was one winning division one entry in the 1597 Oz Lotto draw, with NSW claiming victory.

The number of Lott’s Division 1 winning tickets has reached 326 so far in 2024, including 97 won by NSW Lotteries customers.

In the 2024 financial year, there were 16 First Division winning tickets across the country, totaling more than $323 million.

Of the 16 winning entries from Division 1, 10 landed in NSW, three in Queensland, and Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia recorded one each.
