Paramount and Skydance reportedly resume merger talks
Just weeks after Paramount’s largest shareholder and Skydance abruptly ended negotiations over the deal, talks between the two parties have resumed, three people familiar with the situation said Tuesday.
Paramount — the parent company of CBS, MTV and Nickelodeon — and Skydance, the emerging film studio that helped produce “Top Gun: Maverick,” called off talks in June, just before a scheduled vote on a merger. Though the two sides had agreed on economic terms, Shari Redstone, the controlling shareholder of Paramount through parent company National Amusements, had clashed with Skydance in the final weeks of negotiations.
National Amusements is now in talks with Skydance again about a possible deal. It was not immediately clear on what terms the two would reach a deal.
