Parents criticized for giving daughter ‘crazy’ Game of Thrones name
CRITICS are raising concerns over a baby name inspired by Game of Thrones.
While the parents felt there was no problem with their daughter’s unique nickname, others called her “crazy.”
Reddit user AutumnAkasha shared the creative baby name in a post.
A Game of Thrones-themed birthday cake, decorated in black and red with a large red dragon on top, revealed that the parents had named their daughter “Rhaenys Alysanne.”
Rhaenyra Targaryen, a fictional character in the book and television series, was the only daughter of King Viserys.
“The cake we made for my daughter’s name day!” the parent wrote.
However, the Redditor was not impressed.
“Do you think the reference is subtle enough?” they asked sarcastically.
“By the way, her brother’s name is Viserys.”
Critics agreed they had a bone to pick with the parents.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: children are not a showcase for your fandoms,” said one irritated viewer.
“My son Megatron wouldn’t agree to that,” someone joked.
“Megatron Griffin might agree,” said another.
Others were shocked by the specific names the parents named their children after.
“Let’s name our kids after a family known for incest,” one Game of Thrones fan commented.
“Incest and half of them randomly go crazy when they’re adults,” added another.
“That’s probably because of all that incest.”
Some thought that part of the name, inspired by the book series, could be cashed in.
“I actually like the [A Song of Ice and Fire] “My name is Alysanne,” said one commenter.
“I think it looks and sounds really nice, but at most it would be a maybe-probably-not hypothetical middle name for a hypothetical girl,” they added.
However, the name as a whole aroused their aversion.
“This is just crazy,” they said.
