Winter session in Parliament: TMC refuses to toe the Congress line, wants to raise people's issues
NEW DELHI: With the Congress-led attack on the Adani issue paralyzing both Houses of Parliament For two days now, TMC has been pushing for a different line from Congress during a meeting of party MPs on Wednesday. “TMC wants the House of Representatives to be constituted so that the issues of the people can be raised,” party leader in Rajya Sabha Derek O’Brien told reporters after the meeting.
The Trinamool Congress agreed to a two-day discussion on the government’s proposed Constitution, taking the opportunity to raise issues such as the alleged deprivation of central funds to West Bengal and the situation in Manipur that it wish to draw attention to in the House. “TMC wants Parliament to run for office. We do not want one issue to disrupt Parliament. We must hold this government accountable for its many failures,” said TMC Lok Sabha MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.

Most of the INDIA bloc veterans, including Banerjee, are expected to attend the swearing-in of Jharkhand CM and JMM chief Hemant Soren on Thursday in a show of strength for the opposition bloc. Stating that TMC is part of the INDIA bloc at the national level but is not electoral allies of any party, Dastidar said, “We will take on the BJP, but our view on how to go about this may be strategically different are.”
