Passenger dies after driver loses control and hits telegraph pole in Coopers Plains, Brisbane

A passenger was killed after the car he was in left the road and hit a telegraph pole.

The unidentified passenger died at the scene of the crash on Kessels Road in Coopers Plains, south of Brisbane, at around 4.50am on Thursday.

The 19-year-old male driver was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in stable condition.

A QAS spokesperson said: ‘Multiple emergency services were called to a serious accident involving a vehicle that had rolled into a pole on Riawena and Kessels Roads at 4.48am.

‘One patient was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition, a second patient was assessed at the scene for life-threatening injuries.’

Authorities have not yet identified the driver and passenger.

Westbound lanes at Kessel Road were closed and delays of one hour were expected.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
