The family of former rugby League coach Paul Green has broken their silence Queensland Boss, Billy Slater, apologized for his controversial comments about the coach prior to State of Origin II.
Green’s brother, Rick, revealed the displeasure of his family about how Slater had spoken about Paul’s tragic death in 2022, but that they had accepted the apologies from the Maroons coach.
Slater had tried to fire a Barb back on first New South Wales Prop, Aaron Woods, who had criticized him last week by calling him a ‘grub’.
But in a passionate speech during a press conference on Tuesday, Slater seemed to refer to the late Maroons coach, Green, who died tragically in 2022.
‘Although I might be able to deal [criticism]The next person may not be. Maybe our last coach [Green] Not, “Slater said during the press.
Although Green’s family has accepted the apology of Slater, they wanted to clarify the public that Paul died as a result of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CT) – not because of a struggle with mental health problems, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

“The family regrets that Paul’s name was brought into the current story and the way this was done,” Rick said on behalf of the Green Family to the outlet.
They told the Sydney Morning Herald that they wanted to speak with Slater in the aftermath of State of Origin II.
‘The family wants to repeat that we love Queensland and her team. We also have a lot of respect for the person in charge of the team’s performance.
“It was a shame that Mr Slater referred the reference, but he has responded appropriately and apologized without a reservation. We sincerely wish him the best in his role as a coach of our state team. ‘
Slater gave a public apology to the family on Wednesday and admitted that he had exceeded the goal if it concerned his comments, with regard to the death of Green.
“Yesterday I wrongly made the link between the death of Paul Green and the pressure of coaching, which was not accurate, nor was appropriate,” said Slater.

Green’s family said they had accepted the apology of Slater, but added that his comments were ‘unhappy’
‘I feel terrible about what I said and I spoke with Amanda Green this morning and apologized for every pain that it caused her and her family.
“I just want to say this, Paul had CTE. It is a different disease than I referred to.
“Again, I’m sorry deep and real.”
During his speech on Tuesday, Slater was questioned the role of Woods in the media and claimed that he had no right to have a voice after he had beaten a Barb to him last week.
