‘Diner is ready!!! Thanks Snoopy!!!’ said the comedian in his tweet, which was sent Thursday afternoon.

The accompanying photo showed all of the makeshift dinner items that Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Linus are preparing for their friends: toast, popcorn, pretzels, jelly beans, and an ice cream sundae with a cherry on top.

The original 25-minute special aired on the CBS network in 1973 and became an annual feature, although the network skipped the special in 1982, 1983, and 1988.

The special later moved to Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel in the 1990s, before eventually shifting to ABC, along with the other Peanuts holiday specials, 1965’s A Charlie Brown Christmas and 1966’s It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

ABC aired all three specials every year from 2001 to 2019 on or near Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

The specials all remained mainstream ratings even decades after they originally aired.

In 2020, however, all three specials — along with the entire Peanuts library — have shifted to Apple TV Plus, although there’s a three-day window where all the specials can be watched for free without a subscription.

They also struck a deal with PBS and PBS Kids to air the specials on public television just before the holiday season.
