Pensioner, 72, denies stabbing Repair Shop star Jay Blades’ uncle, 73, to death with a large kitchen knife

A pensioner has denied murdering Repair Shop star’s 73-year-old uncle Jay Blades.

Derrick Brown, 72, allegedly stabbed Richard Brathwaite to death on Cromwell Road, Wembley, in the North West London on March 21.

The devastated TV star, 54, later revealed his beloved uncle had been murdered in a Instagram after.

Brown allegedly attacked Mr Brathwaite and his wife Annetta Brathwaite, 71, with a large kitchen knife.

Mr Brathwaite died at the scene, but fortunately his wife’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Brown denied murder, wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place when he appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from HMP Belmarsh, wearing a gray prison tracksuit.

Judge Charles Bourne QC remanded Brown in custody ahead of his trial on January 27 next year.

Prosecutor Deanna Heer QC previously said: “On March 21 this year, Annetta Brathwaite called the police and said her husband had been stabbed.

“When the police arrived, they found the deceased bleeding from a stab wound and although they attempted first aid, the efforts were unsuccessful and they declared life extinct.”
