People are baffled by my garden setup, it would be horrible with some neighbors
While most people value their privacy, one couple shared the unique decor they shared with their neighbors.
Instead of building a privacy fence between their gardens, the families opted for an invisible border.
In her viral videoTikTok user Laura Reynolds (@laureynoldsxx) showed her followers the unusual agreement she and her partner have with local residents.
She revealed that there is no fence between her garden and her neighbor’s.
The layout made it seem as if the two houses shared one enormous garden, but she pointed out the almost imperceptible boundary line between the two.
While the neighbors’ grass is green and healthy, their garden is yellower and sparser.
Laura explained that when they bought their house, there were no fences on either side of their yard.
“We only had the original fence posts and ropes separating the gardens,” she said.
She and her partner had now chosen to install a fence on one side of their garden.
However, they stopped short of building one on the other side because they liked the people next door so much.
Recently, their neighbors had started installing a privacy fence, which Laura pointed out to her audience.
She explained that the project was necessary to complete the garden renovation.
She shared her disappointment that the fence prevented her neighbor’s dog, Teddy, from visiting them.
Laua described the pet stopping by to say hello as her favorite part of the day.
She added that the setup probably wouldn’t have worked for many people.
“Luckily we get along so well with our neighbors, I think we’ll even be sad if they put up a fence,” she concluded.
TikTok users shared their thoughts on the arrangement in the comments section.
The five main reasons why neighbors argue
A survey by Compare the Market revealed the main reason for the British neighbors’ dispute
- Broken Fences – at the top of the board was broken fences and whose responsibility it was to fix them
- Parking: one of the biggest causes of neighbor disputes: 54.1 percent of people have problems with people parking in front of their home, parking lot or driveway
- Trees – complaints about the neighbour’s tree destroying your garden path were also common; almost half of the participants found it frustrating
- Garbage wars – open-air garbage etiquette continues to cause the most heated debates among neighbors
- Nosy neighbors – some people have their eyes and ears ready to take a peek and cause trouble for others
“The grass really is greener on the other side,” one viewer joked.
“Make a dog gate so the dog can cross,” another person suggested.
“Personally, I really like my privacy, especially in the garden when I just want to relax or do some gardening,” said a third follower.
“I couldn’t have that, but to each their own,” said another TikTok user.
“We had a fence between our neighbor’s house growing up so I could play with their dog,” one viewer wrote.
