People are just starting to realise why Aldi has so many 99p prices
HAVE you ever wondered why so many prices end in 99p at Aldi?
Well, one woman did just that and decided to ask if anyone knew the reasoning behind the pricing choices.
In the comments section of a video Aldi employee Dylan shared about the new products in the store, she said: requested: “Why does everything end in .99, is that a marketing ploy?”
“It’s called psychological pricing,” said someone else.
“It looks cheaper than it is!”
As Dylan moved the camera down the centre aisles of the store, every price ended up at 99p.
The psychological pricing strategy makes customers feel like they are paying less when they buy essential products for, say, £4.99 instead of a whole number like £5.
Other strategies used by stores like Aldi include offering products ‘on sale’ for a few cents less, or listing prices in unit prices rather than comparing a 120g product to a 250g of the same product. This creates the illusion that they are cheaper.
Items Aldi is offering this week include organizational basics like glue sticks and family planners, and an adorable whiteboard that’s perfect for celebrating the new school year.
At the end of the video, Dylan mentioned that in one of his future clips he would be checking out the new health and beauty products in the store.
One person commented on the clip: “Ooo makeup and beauty! My favorite.
“And we are grateful for you.
“Thanks for the updates, thanks to you I don’t miss any offers anymore!!”
“I really like that you show what’s new at Aldi,” said another in praise.
“Thank you for taking the time!”
“I’m glad I can see what offers are on before I go to Aldi!” a third commented.
“You did me a great favor with the baby and toddler event.”
And observant shoppers will be keeping a close eye on Dylan’s video to see when the highly anticipated wooden toy event hits stores.
“Dylan, do you know when ALDI’s crazy wooden toy event is?” someone wrote.
More Aldi aisle purchases
IF you’re looking for bargains in the aisle here, you won’t want to miss some of the new items.
“What drove everyone crazy last year?”
“I have to take a day off for this event,” added another.
“If they ever have another one I think I’ll just go camping outside,” laughed a third.
“I keep watching Tik Tok videos from last year,” someone else commented.
“It looks like October 19th. I’m determined to go this year.”
Aldi has not yet confirmed an official date for the sale of wooden toys in stores.
