People criticize parents after they announce the birth of a baby with a ‘hate crime’ name
SOCIAL media users are shocked when they see a birth announcement. They immediately realize that the name sounds very ‘rude’.
Parents know that it takes a lot of time and effort to find a name for their newborn baby. Some want the name to sound nice, others are looking for a name with a meaning.
But most importantly, choose a name that your little one won’t be teased or bullied about when he or she grows up.
However, it seems that this is clearly not something that an American couple had in mind when naming their little one
Unfortunately for the baby, the proud parents also shared the name on a large birth announcement – and people reacted with shock and hysteria.
The sign read, “Welcome to the world Annaly, 7 pounds and 10 ounces.”
According to nicebabyname.comAnnaly is an Irish nickname and a variation of the girl’s name Annaleigh, meaning ‘light’ or ‘grace’.
The website stated: “It is a perfect choice for parents looking for a unique and timeless name for their daughter.”
But despite the beautiful meaning, people have noted that writing the name down immediately comes across as something rather rude.
Someone joked, “Not the traditional way to give birth, but I guess to each their own!”
Someone else laughed: “I’ve never heard of a baby being born that way…”
A third joked: ‘This is my other daughter, Orally.’
A social media user responded: “You’ve got to be kidding me, but I’ve definitely seen the name ‘Oralee’ before.
“I think people were trying to sing ‘Aurelie.'”
Several people also worried about the girl’s future, saying that she would be terribly mocked by her peers.
“That poor child is going to be bullied so mercilessly…”
Are Unique Baby Names Worth It?
Fabulous’ deputy editor-in-chief talks about the problems she had with her name as a child.
As a child, I wanted nothing more than a personalized keychain with my name on it.
But it wasn’t. The closest I could get were Rosie, Joseph (not so nice for such a little girl) and Joanne.
Josie is short for Josephine, a French first name, and I’ve been in my twenties without ever meeting anyone with the same first name.
When I try to introduce myself to people I get called all sorts of random names like Tracey and Stacey and it can be quite annoying.
Although I’ve met a few Josies in the past year (there are a few around my age), it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends’ names.
Overall I don’t mind it, at least it’s not crude or spelled weird.
And that means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just calling myself Josie.
I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my last name. It’s not considered cool or feminist these days. I explain to them that I’m not that attached to Griffiths because I always just say ‘Hi, I’m Josie’ when I call a friend.
I like being unique and I will definitely try to achieve this when naming my own children.
You have to watch out for the crude names, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist I will definitely avoid them.
Another said the baby was already “doomed,” while someone else described the choice as “a hate crime.”
However, someone had a problem with the name problem. According to them, the name would be pronounced as ”Anna Lee”.
The Person: “What’s wrong with Anna Lee?”
A Reddidor responded: “Anna Lee has the same problem. Anna Lee. Annalee. Anal.”
