People shudder as fashionista shows how she wears her wide jeans like a TOP
FASHION has taken us to strange places.
From jeans and hoof-shaped heels to inflatable latex bodysuits and stuffed animal heads on dresses (we’re looking at you, Kylie Jenner).
But just when you think people’s bizarre clothing styles are unsurpassable, a new trend emerges.
This time he’s wearing jeans as a top.
The trend has become wildly popular on social media, with women wrapping the legs of their jeans over their shoulders and around their bodies like a makeshift blouse.
Jeans and a nice top have always been fashionable, but jeans as a beautiful summit is completely new territory.
Earlier this week, a style blogger was trolled on Instagram for rocking the look.
Marina, behind the Responsible for outfits page, said she was “a little obsessed” with the look.
Not all of her followers shared the same opinion.
“Take it off now and wear something normal,” someone demanded.
Others begged Marina to ‘never do this again’ and to tell them the style is satire.
“It’s like wearing shoes on your hands,” said another fashion critic sitting in his armchair.
“Enough is enough,” wrote More.
Some attackers even compared the look to something Balenciaga would produce.
After years of selling dresses that looked like garbage bags, the French fashion house has established itself as the craziest designer on the market.
In 2017, the brand released a bag that looked like a blue Ikea bag, costing customers £1,670, compared to the original bag costing just 75p in stores.
Are jeans a step too far?
Fabulous’ fashion editor explains why she can’t bear to wrap jeans around her body instead of a top.
These are the thoughts of Clemmie Fieldsend…
JUST when you think you’ve seen it all, someone wraps their jeans around you like a top.
I’m all for creativity and experimentation and I’m all for getting the most out of your clothes, but wearing your underwear as a top is just ridiculous.
I don’t believe an influencer in a beautiful apartment with high ceilings and lots of detail can be so hard-pressed that she can’t go to Primark and spend five quid on a top that is actually a top.
The rest of us will be fine.
Treat yourself to some love and buy a new top.
In 2022, the company produced a bag costing £925 that resembled a Tesco bag.
Fashion lovers are comparing the new trend of wearing jeans as tops to this kind of craziness.
However, Marina is not discouraged by the critics.
“I know people on this app take everything too seriously, but guys, this is just the trend I’m testing,” she replied.
“Let’s have some fun with fashion, even if it makes no sense.”
Some of her followers loved the “creative” idea, calling it “iconic” and “so chic.”
