Perth boy stabbed to death in Thailand identified in tribute to ‘beautiful’ and ‘charismatic’ teen

A 14-year-old Australian-Thai boy who was fatally stabbed outside a residential area in Thailand has been identified as Perth teenager Lucky Fazzalari.

Lucky was on his way home when he was reportedly attacked Tuesday outside a supermarket in Chonburi, about two hours south of Bangkok.

The 14-year-old, who was a Grade 7 student at a private school and has an Australian father and a Thai mother, collapsed on the steps of a nearby shop and later died.

CCTV footage that captured the scuffle reportedly shows the teen’s attacker stabbing a knife into his back as he tries to run to safety.

The teenager, an 8th grade student, reportedly fled on a motorcycle but was apprehended by Thai police a short time later.

He has since been charged with causing fatal bodily harm to another person and a weapons offense that carries a maximum sentence of 15 years.

Lucky’s father Tony Fazzalari said the 14-year-old was a “beautiful boy” who was much loved by his parents and two sisters.

‘He went to an international private school there. We never thought his life would be in danger – we were just shocked to hear this,” said Sister Jessica Fazzalari 7News.

She went on to describe him as “caring,” “charismatic” and a natural athlete.

Lucky had attended Clarkson Primary School and Clarkson Community High School until last year, when he moved to Thailand to spend time with his mother.

He lived with his father and sister in the northern suburbs of Perth for nine years.

It comes after Lucky’s Thai mother said he had spoken about a dispute with an older student at school who had sent him ‘threatening’ messages.

‘I saw him go away to play in the village, but I didn’t know when he went to the shop. He said he was having problems with a senior student from the same school,” she said.

She told the Bangkok Post that she was “shocked” and “saddened” by her son’s death.

When Lucky’s alleged attacker was questioned by police, he said he had “looked at him like he was asking for trouble,” so he challenged him to meet up after school.

It was there that the argument took a nasty turn before Lucky was allegedly stabbed in the back and left lying in a pool of his own blood.

‘I stabbed him in the back before I rode home on my motorcycle. “I didn’t know this was going to kill him,” the teenager reportedly told police.

Lucky’s body has been sent to Bangkok Police General Hospital for post-mortem.

Mr Fazzalari’s two sisters and Lucky will travel to Thailand in the coming days to attend the 14-year-old’s funeral.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said it was providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian who died in Thailand.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time,” they said.
