Perth shopper Courtney Oliver goes on an epic TikTok rant about why she’s ‘fed up’ every time she goes to the supermarket

An Australian customer from Australia took to social media to vent her anger about the rude customers she encounters in the supermarket.

Courtney Oliver said in her TikTok post titled “Justice for supermarket workers… are you guys ok?” that the staff at her local Coles in Perth are “literally just old ladies who have been there for 65 million years” and “young people who are just like school and university”.

“They’re all beautiful, they’re all sweet… everyone there is so nice.”

Ms Oliver continued: ‘Every time I go there, there’s someone — I don’t want to say someone older, because sometimes they’re younger — but there’s always someone who says, “I don’t want to use the self-service, why aren’t there cash registers?” Blah blah blah.’

Mrs. Oliver looked straight into the camera and asked, “Do you think it’s their fault?”

‘Do you think that bloody Emily, who works at Coles three days a week to support herself while she goes to university, decides how many tills there are?

“Do you think that old f***ing Linda who’s been working there for 27 years behind the counter or selling cigarettes… do you think it’s her fault? No!”

Ms Oliver said she will always defend an employee or staff member if someone is rude to them, because she has been in that situation herself.

Mrs. Olive continued her epic tirade.

‘If you really believe in the person who is serving you or who is operating the self-checkout, if you are convinced that he or she has personally made a decision that is unpleasant for you, then you have stones in your head.’

Ms Oliver ended TikTok by reminding customers that employees are not the ones making decisions.

‘They are big companies, they decide, not the young people.

‘Do not be so mean.’

Comments on Ms Oliver’s TikTok page thanked her for defending supermarket staff.

“As someone who works at Coles self-service checkouts, thank you,” one person wrote.

‘Coles worker here….every. single. day.! I kind of get it but why do you keep going on like it’s our fault? We’re being told it’s literally our fault!’ wrote another.

‘Absolutely. My daughter (who) worked at Coles had food thrown at her head for asking someone to scan an item after they (tried to) steal it.

‘Literally worked self-service and a lady came up screaming and said she didn’t have to scan her stuff herself. Told her the registers were open. Told me she didn’t want to wait. Makes sense.’

One response summed up the gratitude toward Mrs. Oliver.

‘Customers like you help us get through our services, thank you!’
