Insiders allege that Annastacia Palaszczuk has “checked out” and that the staunch Labor party Peter Beattie has urged her to start a new agenda and prove she still wants to be prime minister.

Mr Beattie, who served as Prime Minister between 1998 and 2007, warned voters would turn against Ms Palaszczuk if they thought her government had grown ‘old’.

Palaszczuk could become Queensland’s longest-serving prime minister since World War II if she leads her party to victory in the next election in 2024.

She would beat Mr Beattie’s previous nine-year record.

Labor insiders argue that Ms Palaszczuk has given too much power to union boss Gary Bullock and won’t make any decisions without consulting him first.
