The royals were greeted with a standing ovation as they took their seats. Kate, 42, looked stunning in a custom-made purple dress by Safiyaa Cecilia and Pippa, 40, looked glamorous in a £357 floral dress by Beulah.

Pippa was spotted in the same dress in 2021, when her younger brother James Middleton married Alizée Thevenet.

Many Wimbledon fans have praised Pippa’s elegant look at X, with one person saying: “I love that dress… but it’s out of my budget.”

Another said: “She looks beautiful, just like her sister and niece.”

The Wimbledon final is Princess Kate’s first public appearance since attending Trooping the Colour for King Charles’ birthday last month.

In June, the princess was seen beaming next to the monarch on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

It was the first time Kate had attended a royal event since she and Charles were diagnosed with cancer.

Pippa and Kate are reportedly very close, with royal commentator Richard Fizwilliams previously telling The Sun that the princess is likely to rely heavily on her sister’s support at this “absolutely crucial” time.

He said: “I think the Middletons will be her rock, and they’ll be incredibly supportive, especially with the kids.”

The two sisters have always been close and share an apartment in the fashionable London area Chelsea in her twenties to Pippa who now lives near the princess’s home at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate.

Princess Kate at Wimbledon is ‘huge step forward’ and ‘very positive’ amid cancer treatment

Pippa stole the spotlight as Kate’s bridesmaid at her glittering wedding to Prince William in 2011, when she carried her sister’s train up the steps of Westminster Abbey.

The pair became friends as children through their shared love of sports and exercise, and have often attended Wimbledon together in the past.

Ahead of her Wimbledon performance today, the Princess of Wales shared a message and message of support for her and Prince William’s official X/Twitter platform.

“Great to be back at @Wimbledon!” it read.

Special role Pippa Middleton could get if Kate is queen

KATE Middleton is very close to her family, including her mother Carole and sister Pippa.

And if Prince William’s wife one day becomes queen, her beloved family members could be in line for special tributes.

Royal author Phil Dampier told Fabulous that Pippa Middleton could be cast in a similar role as Queen Camilla’s younger sister Annabel Elliott, who is one of her six ‘companions’.

He said: “I definitely think there is a role for Pippa as a lady-in-waiting or as a companion.

“This must be someone the then queen can trust and rely on, and who better than her sister?

“Pippa does have some commercial interests, but I’m sure by the time Kate becomes Queen she will be happy to fulfil that role if necessary.

“It’s not necessarily a full-time job, so she would be available.

“We all know what a sensation she was at their wedding in 2011 and since then she has kept a relatively low profile and is of course happily married.”

Another person he believes could be considered for a “companion role” is Kate’s stylist and close friend Natasha Archer, because she is “someone else she trusts and would be ideal for a support role.”

“There’s nothing like The Championships.”

Before the royal ladies took their places this afternoon, they met Emma Radacabnu, who presented Kate with a bouquet of flowers.

Ahead of her appearance on Trooping The Colour last month, Kate shared an update on her health after announcing she had cancer in March.

In a personal statement she said: “I am overwhelmed by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the past
a few months.

It has really made a huge difference to William and I and has helped us both through some tough times.

“I’m making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days.

“On those bad days you feel weak, tired and have to give in to
your body rests. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling good.

“My treatment is still ongoing and will last for a few more months. On the days that I feel well enough, it is a pleasure to keep myself busy with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, and to start working a little from home.

“I’m looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade with my family this weekend and I hope to attend a few more public events in the summer, but I also know that I’m not quite there yet.

“I’m learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body and giving myself time to heal.

“Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to everyone who has so courageously shared their stories with me.”
