Pixel Buds Pro 2 expected to come with new Tensor A1 chip: details
While we wait for Google’s latest Pixel 9 smartphone series to launch (which also includes a new foldable model this year), we also expect the search giant to announce a series of Pixel smartwatches and new TWS earbuds. The last time Google introduced a Pro model for its TWS earbuds was the Pixel Buds Pro, which launched in 2022. Recent leaks have suggested that the design of the upcoming Buds Pro 2 earbuds hasn’t changed much (added wingtips), despite allegedly coming in new color options. New leaks are now also hinting that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will come with a new Tensor chip.
According to @MysteryLupin’s after On X (formerly Twitter), Google is introducing the Pixel Buds Pro 2 with a new chipset dubbed the ‘Tensor A1’. The new chipset is expected to bring new features and also offer improved battery life.

One of the biggest new features is reportedly Conversation Detection, which could be improved since it’s a feature that’s already available on the Pixel Buds Pro. The feature automatically pauses music or video playback when it detects a call and enables transparency mode to help users have a clear conversation without having to take out their earbuds.
Another feature the new Tensor A1 chip should help with is Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Hopefully it’ll do a good job of reducing the faint hissing sound we experienced in our Pixel Buds Pro review.
In terms of connectivity, the tipster also claims that the earbuds will “connect seamlessly” to various ecosystem devices such as the Watch, Tablet, and phones. Battery life is also said to have received a boost, with 30 hours of listening time with the case and 8 hours without. These battery life estimates differ slightly from what was revealed in an earlier report.
Another leak via 9to5Googlecomes from a shopping website called Very. Although the listing has now been removed, it did reveal (for a short time) a ton of details, including photos of the new buds from every possible angle.
The listing said the new earbuds are 63.3mm tall and 49.9mm wide. They connect via Bluetooth and feature noise cancellation. It was also revealed that the Tensor A1 chip, in addition to delivering better ANC, is also focused on delivering better sound. The product was listed for £219 and appeared to be available in four colour options that had previously leaked.
Google is expected to unveil a number of new devices at its launch event later today, including a new foldable phone called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and a new XL model called the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
