PM Modi arrives in Delhi after two-day visit to Laos | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to Delhi after a two-day visit Laos in which he participated in the 21st ASEAN-India and the 19th East Asia Summit.
The Prime Minister described his visit as “productive” and said it is in line with India’s commitment to continue strengthening ties with India ASEAN.
“Thank you Laotian Democratic Republic of Congo! It was a productive visit, in line with India’s commitment to continue strengthening ties with ASEAN. Together we will continue to work for peace, prosperity and sustainable development in the region,” he said earlier in a post on X.
The year 2024 marks a decade of India Act East Policy.
Prime Minister Modi joined leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to review the progress of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and chart the future direction of our cooperation.
The East Asia Summit provided an opportunity to deliberate on the challenges to peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
India has close cultural and civilizational ties with the region, including with the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, which are enriched by a shared heritage of Buddhism and Ramayana.
Prime Minister Modi also held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summits.
The East Asia Summit, a premier leader-led forum helping to build an environment of strategic trust in the region, provides an opportunity for leaders from EAS participating countries, including India, to exchange views on issues of regional importance.
