NEW DELHI: Amid renewed violence in Manipur, the Congress on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi considered it more important to intervene in the conflict in Ukraine than to contain violence in the northeastern state as it demanded that CM Biren Singh be sacked and serious steps be taken to restore normalcy. It also said that the SC-mandated probe panel should expedite its inquiry.
While Priyanka Gandhi Vadra “Modi’s indifference to Manipur is unpardonable,” Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said. Former state governor Anusuiya Uikey has said the unrest-ridden state is angry because it wants Modi, who has stayed away since the violence broke out, to visit.
