PM Modi launches Odisha’s flagship Subhadra scheme, projects over Rs 3,800 crore | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated ‘Subhadra’, a flagship programme initiated by the Government of OdishaThe aim of the programme is to benefit more than one crore women in the state.
As per the scheme guidelines, all eligible female beneficiaries between the ages of 21 and 60 will receive financial aid of Rs. 50,000 over a period of five years. The beneficiary will receive a total amount of Rs. 10,000 per year, which will be directly deposited into his bank account linked to both Aadhaar and Direct transfer of benefits (DBT). The amount is paid out in two equal parts during the year.
The direct transfer of funds to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries should ensure transparency and eliminate the possibility of middlemen. This initiative is expected to financially empower women and contribute to their overall well-being.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated and dedicated to the nation railway projects worth over Rs 2800 crores in Bhubaneswar. Besides, he laid the foundation stone for national highway projects worth over Rs 1000 crores.
The Prime Minister then disbursed the first instalment of assistance to around 10 lakh beneficiaries under PMAY-G across 14 states. Griha Pravesh celebrations were also held for 26 lakh beneficiaries of PMAY (Gramin and Urban) from different parts of the country. He further launched the Awaas+ 2024 app, designed to facilitate the enrolment of additional households for PMAY-G. The Prime Minister also unveiled the operational guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0.
While celebrating his 74th birthday, the Prime Minister visited Odisha from Gujarat to launch these projects.
